Community Involvement

Light-Up Off-Campus Annual Event

We feel safety is a top priority when living off-campus at school. In addition to replacing doors, windows, and lock sets with new, high-quality materials, we also like to provide SouthSide homes with proper outdoor lighting. Each year in conjunction with Lehigh University’s Student Senate, we hand out hundreds of free LED and CFL bulbs that cost less than $1/month to leave running - the extra lighting in the neighborhood increases security for all residents.

Bethlehem Economic Development Corporation (BEDCO)

BEDCO is a not-for-profit economic development organization, funded by Lehigh University and the City of Bethlehem, that helps improve neighborhoods throughout the City. BEDCO’s latest initiative is the Community Ambassador Program - the program’s cleaning and safety ambassadors help pick up litter, aid in hospitality, maintain landscaping, assist with parking, and promote safety throughout SouthSide. We have found the program very successful, and are proud to have contributed $15,000 towards its sustainability.
